Mini lesson

A useful Chemistry idea

The best first step in a chemistry calculation is often not the calculator. Balance the equation, identify the mole ratio, then choose whether concentration, mass, gas volume or titration data is being used.

Students practise this idea first with a small example, then with a question closer to HSC difficulty. The aim is to make the method repeatable.

Practice tasks

  2. Predict an equilibrium shift and justify it.
